A great 3 day weekend! Scott took off Friday. Veteran's Day.
Saturday was a perfect weather day! We were off to Gruene. This is the 4th time the boys have played there. It is the oldest dance hall in Texas. We got there right at 1 and stayed thru the 3 sets that ended at 5! The place was crowded and the audience was very enthusiastic. It's the kind of place that people stroll in, sit on the old, old , picnic tables, listen a while and then continue on their day, or some people stay and stay and enjoy the great talent that is presented there! At 1 o'clock the beer was selling like crazy... lol. I believe the floor may be original, holes are patched with license plates, it has shutters that pull up, to let the breeze blow thru the screens. Today was perfect weather for it! There are pool tables, and horseshoe games outside.
Gruene is a small town, The Grist Mill is a well known restaurant, located directly behind it. One woman that I spoke with, had been at a Wine place down the road, she heard the music and had to come check it out. It is a fun town with shops, b&b's and in the summer, tubing on the river! It was packed today! everyone out enjoying the sunshine and 70 degree weather.
The boys- TWC's played a rocking show. Each set was high energy and they all appeared to be having a great time! No signs of being on the road and playing shows- Corpus to Fort Worth, and back to Gruene. Lots of miles! It was a great show! We met many people and the guys made a lot of fans.
Built in 1878, Gruene Hall is the oldest continually running dance hall in Texas, and the Central Texas birthplace to many great songwriters and musicians. Including George Strait & Ace in the Hole, Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Robert Earl Keen, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Hal Ketchum, Bruce and Charlie Robison, and many more.per Gruene Hall website.

Dinner was at The Grist Mill. We were seated on the top floor! 3rd floor with an amazing view of the river and surrounding area. A gorgeous sunset! Service was good, and the food was much better than our previous visits. I had grilled chicken and Scott had a Tbone. Our other 2 guests had the trout and fried catfish. Strawberry shortcake for dessert!

Next stop was the outlet mall. I had time to run into Vera and Bath and Body. Both places were packed with people and great deals. We were there maybe 20 minutes and then on our way home. Our morning started at 6:30. If you know us, our night usually ends at 3am and our day begins between 11 and 1.....the joys of an unusual work schedule! We were tired and still had a 4 hour drive! Thankfully, Scott drives...

We did make our traditional stop at West. Kolaches, pumpkin spice bread, and Texas Chocolate Cake! My absolute favorite!

Sunday, Sara and I went to Amy's Holiday Open House. Amy is my scrapbooking friend. She has a beautiful home and she is an awesome hostess. She had it all beautifully decorated for Christmas. She had a chocolate fountain and lots of goodies! Amy has an amazing Barbie Doll collection! It was a fun afternoon!

Dec. 2nd

Canton!
Sara and I had a great day at Canton. Gorgeous day, perfect weather, not as crowded as last month. We had a plan, decide at midnight Wednesday to call at 9:30am and see if we want to go...and we did! We enjoyed lunch, saw lots we wanted, laughed, picked up some ideas, talked, and had a great time (and passed up the caramel corn!)......tomorrow we create!

December Daily 2010- Dec 1st

December 1st
Scott's birthday! I am so thankful for Scott! He is a great husband, dad, and friend.
I did my normal Wednesday routine. Lunch with mom and Sara at "Our Place" followed by a quick run to the Dr., instead of our usual movie. Finally had enough with the coughing.........upper resp. infection, sinus infection, and double ear infection.....I guess that explains why I still have Thanksgiving decorations up in December!
Dinner at Mercardo's with Scott, Aaron, Sara, Jake, Lindsey, and Daniel. Sopapillas instead of cake!

We had a huge weekend planned.1)help the McMahans move furniture 2) Go to Kennedale Art in the Park 3) Grill out steaks 4) Rose family reunion.
It rained, drizzled, misted, poured, all weekend. We did move the furniture- love it by the way. We enjoyed Art in the Park, we saw lots of cool stuff, heard a band play, wanted a corn dog, Scott had to dodge my pink umbrella- it was fun.
We missed the reunion- many excuses, but we just missed it........Scott's mom bday, Jill's bday and the anniversary of them passing was a little much for us this year. I will plan better next time.

Instead- we spent the day eating- Spring Creek for lunch with the kids and good ole' Gospel music.
PeiWei for dinner- Scott had never been there- he ordered Sweet and sour chicken- and we were really disappointed- way vinegary taste? Everyone else loved their selection. We should have asked for a redo on Scott's

All in All a good family weekend-even if it was dreary......weather and emotionally.
